If, like me, you agree that the first two Paddington films are among the greatest ever made, this one will be both entertaining and disappointing. As it’s about Paddington adjusting to life with his family in London or #39; How an ordinary family adjusts to living with a bear, it loses its original charm, and certainly its humor.
We could say we want Sally Hawkins, but what’s the point?
It has a different feel to it – more emotional and noticeably less funny. While the first two were hilarious for a tired old Marx Brothers fan like me, I can say that this is definitely a family movie aimed at kids. All we can say is that we need more of the Brown family and their neighbors.
More generic family fun than hilariously wacky cuteness
We had it all in the first two, and since they were so… dare I say it, perfect, there was no point in trying to copy them. So yeah, this is different, it’s terribly over-emotional at times and funny nothing, but it’s still Paddington.
